Aviation gasoline, or "avgas," fuels the current JAARS fleet comprising aging, piston-engine aircraft. But avgas is obsolete in today’s jet-engine world. Avgas is currently expensive and difficult to obtain in the Pacific and West Africa. Oil companies plan to cease supplying it in the near future. Without avgas to fuel the existing planes, there will be no way to fly translators to Bibleless people.
